Noticing that your THC vape juice looks cloudy or has changed color can be concerning. Fresh THC liquid usually ranges from clear golden yellow to rich amber. When that clear oil turns dark brown, cloudy, or milky, it is a clear sign that a physical or chemical reaction has taken place inside your cartridge or tank.
Understanding why cloudy THC vape juice occurs helps you determine whether your oil simply needs a quick fix or if it has spoiled and should be discarded.
1. Oxidation and Light Exposure (Darkening Oil)
The most common cause of discoloration is natural oxidation. When THC oil is exposed to light, heat, or air, cannabinoids and terpenes react with oxygen, causing the liquid to turn amber, dark brown, or almost black near the top of the cartridge.
- Is it safe? Minor darkening from oxidation is natural and harmless, though it may slightly reduce potency or alter flavor.

2. Temperature Drop and Crystallization (Cloudy or Hazy Appearance)
